Makes shifting quicker and more positive – “virtually” eliminating those nasty missed shifts, upshifts and downshifts. The optimally profiled Factory Pro Shift STAR rotates the shift drum quicker, so the gears are more likely to engage under quick shift conditions – and even on those occasional “lazy” ones we all do sometimes, too -

Note for early morning “neutral to 1st gear” clunk:
The shift star will not affect the clunk that you get when shifting from neutral to 1st gear in the morning. That clunk is caused by the oily clutch plates being stuck together overnight – What’s going on is they stick together, and the clunk is them breaking apart.
Think of 2 plates of oily glass stuck together.
To address that clunk, when the bike is idling in neutral, pull the clutch lever in and hold it for 10 to 30 seconds before shifting into 1st.
That will give the plates enough “uncompressed time” to shake themselves apart..
