NGK Iridium Spark Plugs

NGK has released a new level of spark plug technology - the Iridium, allowing your engine to run more efficiently, producing cleaner exhaust emissions and more power through better ignitability.

Here's why -

Combustion is Improved Through Better Ignitability

The Iridium plugs with their tapered cut ground electrode and fine wire centre electrodes minimise the quenching effect and allow for an excellent flame spread during combustion, as seen in the photo on the left, taken with time lapse photography. Not the much more even flame spread of the Iridium over the standard plug.

Reduced Voltage Requirements

The fine electrode and tapered cut ground electrode increase the electric field strength at the gap, reducing the voltage required for sparking to begin. Improved cold starting and a quicker response during acceleration is achieved. The diagram on the right displays the the greater the gap between electrodes, the higher the required voltage. The Iridium plug, with a centre electrode diametre of just 0.6mm, substantially reduces the required voltage compared to a standard plug.

The 2 Stepped Centre Electrode

Iridium plugs have a patented 2 stepped Centre Electrode which improves anti-fouling performance across all riding conditions. The secondary microdischarge burns off carbon deposits as the form. The carbon cleaning effect means that your Iridium plugs will stay unfouled for longer, giving you a clear white ring at the tip of the firing end.
